The Bajo people have lived on these waters for generations — reading tides, sleeping to the rhythm of the Flores Sea, navigating Komodo’s reef-lined passages by instinct. That same intimacy with the ocean is what we bring to every voyage. Since 2015, Komodo Luxury has hand-curated a fleet of liveaboard boats for guests who want more than a tour: a private world that sails, dives, and feasts on your schedule.
Every vessel below has been selected for hull integrity, crew standard, cabin comfort, and — critically — how it feels to wake up on the water in Komodo National Park. We work across three tiers: Luxury Phinisi for guests who want the full traditional sailing experience in a premium package; Luxury Yacht for those who expect superyacht volume and resort-level service; and Classic Phinisi for travellers who value authentic Indonesian craftsmanship and a social, open-trip atmosphere. All boats depart from Labuan Bajo — the gateway to Komodo.

How to choose the right boat
The right liveaboard depends on four things: group size, trip length, activities (diving vs snorkeling vs trekking), and privacy preference (private charter vs open/shared trip). A couple celebrating a honeymoon calls for a different vessel than a family of six, or a dive club of twelve.
- Couples & small groups (2–6 guests): Pinta Phinisi or Vinca Phinisi — intimate, excellent crew ratio.
- Groups of 6–18: Prana by Atzaro or Elbark Cruise — premium facilities, flexible charter lengths.
- Large private events (18–28 guests): Mutiara Phinisi — the only VVIP-class vessel with dual jacuzzis at this capacity.
- Ultimate luxury, any group up to 14: Lamima — full superyacht experience on a traditional hull.
- Open trip / solo or pair on a budget: Natural Cruise or Elbark Cruise (Friday open departures).

Frequently asked questions about our fleet
What is a phinisi liveaboard?
A phinisi is a traditional double-masted wooden sailing vessel originating from the Bugis people of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Phinisi liveaboards are phinisi boats converted or purpose-built as floating accommodation for multi-day cruises. Guests sleep, eat, and explore directly from the vessel, waking up each morning at a new anchorage inside Komodo National Park.
How long is a Komodo liveaboard trip?
Most guests choose between 3 nights / 4 days and 5 nights / 6 days. A 3D2N trip is the most popular entry point and covers the main highlights — Padar Island, Pink Beach, Komodo dragon trekking, and Manta Point. Longer trips of 5–9 nights allow for more remote anchorages, Raja Ampat extensions, and a more relaxed pace.
What is the difference between a private charter and an open trip?
On a private charter you book the entire vessel for your group — dates, itinerary, and pace are fully customised. On an open trip (also called a shared trip) you book one or two cabins alongside other guests on a fixed weekly schedule. Open trips are more affordable and sociable; private charters offer total privacy and flexibility. Most vessels in our fleet are available for both formats.
Which Komodo liveaboard boat is best for divers?
Prana by Atzaro and Mutiara Phinisi both have dedicated dive decks, onboard dive instructors, and full equipment (BCD, regulators, tanks, air fills). Lamima also carries PADI dive professionals and unlimited diving is included in the charter rate. For technical divers or groups focused primarily on diving, we recommend confirming nitrox or compressor availability when you enquire — our team will match you to the right boat.
